Summary of AMADA’s annual press conference

In 2019, AMADA has conducted a total of 1350 doping control tests at the national level. 549 of them were in-competition. 

As a part of the National Testing Program, AMADA has conducted 863 tests in 2018 and 435 tests in 2017. Therefore, National Testing Program has expanded by 56.4 percent in 2019 and 3.1 times compared to 2017.

According to preliminary data, 16 anti-doping rule violations were recorded by AMADA in 2019. Worth mentioning that this figure is not final due to ongoing results management process. To compare, 27 ADRVs were recorded in 2018 and 22 in 2017.  

In 2019, 13 whereabouts failures were recorded by AMADA.

This year, the number of the Athlete Biological Passports of the Azerbaijani athletes has increased from 51 to 80.

AMADA has stepped up its international activities in 2019. AMADA has signed cooperation agreements with International Testing Agency, the International Triathlon Union, also with the national antidoping organizations of Bulgaria and Moldova. AMADA employees were involved in the works of ad hoc groups in several international organizations as experts.

In 2019, significant progress was achieved in the implementation of the Anti-Doping Education Program in Azerbaijan. More than 100 educational activities were held. 884 athletes have participated in 30 anti-doping seminars. Also, AMADA is in a process of establishing of Athlete Advisory Commission which is supposed to provide AMADA with its recommendations on the improvement of the Educational Program.
