AZERBAIJAN NATIONAL ANTI-DOPING AGENCY - STATEMENT OF SUPPORT

In light of recent deliberations around governance issues of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency (AMADA) is willing to emphasize that WADA is the main advocate of the fight against doping in sport. It was established to monitor the worldwide implementation of anti-doping program to ensure that athletes participate in sport free from doping.
WADA has started to implement serious governance reforms, which were approved at the Foundation Board meeting held in Baku, on November 15, 2018. WADA’s efforts in this direction are considerably acknowledged.
Any concern which is addressed to modify the established system should be addressed, discussed and resolved jointly at an international arena multilaterally, which should be free from any conflict of interest, bias attitude, political and financial interests. It is crucial for anti-doping community that WADA constantly keeps being strong to ensure the proper implementation of and compliance with the World Anti-Doping Code.
For issues that still have to be changed and implemented, all stakeholders need to put their efforts collectively and tackle challenges in a transparent and impartial manner within the framework of a constructive dialogue. AMADA wishes to expressly underline the high importance of global harmonized anti-doping system and WADA’s explicit role as a global regulator.
