AMADA and Technofusion to create blockchain-based registry of athletes

AMADA and Technofusion, one of the leading local IT companies, are working on creating a unified registry of country's athletes based on blockchain technologies.

The system will store a “digital doppelganger” of each athlete and will contain information not only about the athletes themselves, but also about their coaches and doctors. AMADA and Technofusion plan to launch the registry from the beginning of 2020.

“Using blockchain technology will help prevent the risk of loss or falsification of athlete data. Once something has been entered into the blockchain, it cannot be deleted or tampered with. All personal information about the athlete will be protected by the state-of-art cryptographic algorithms. This will make the world of anti-doping cleaner and more transparent”, - said Shafag Huseynli, AMADA’s CEO.

According to her, the use of blockchain technology to create such a registry is another innovation that AMADA offers the world of anti-doping.

“The key features of the blockchain are decentralization, transparency, theoretical unlimitedness, immutability. Traditional storage systems do not have these strengths. These qualities have made our choice in favour of blockchain technology. This project will allow to fully evaluate the maturity of blockchain technology in practice,” said Alexander Kuklin, Head of Technofusion's Data Science division.

He emphasized that a joint project with AMADA is unique for Azerbaijan, so for the first time a local company will develop such an innovative product.

“Until this moment, only large foreign vendors have made pilot projects based on blockchain technology in the Azerbaijani market,” Kuklin noted.

Technofusion was established in 2016, and along with traditional IT infrastructure projects, it is engaged in blockchain-based solutions, business analytics, etc. The company works with a highly diversified portfolio of customers, offering and introducing trending and innovative technologies.
