Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency (AMADA) delivered a course of lectures for graduate students of the Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Education and Sport (ASAPES).

The “Doping Control” module for students of the English-language master's program “Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation” took place during the first half of 2019.

AMADA specialists taught about doping control procedures, anti-doping rule violations, sanctions, the Prohibited List, the rights and obligations of athletes, and relevant other topics.

Lectures were delivered by AMADA’s CEO Shafag Huseynli, Member of Supervisory Board Farid Madatli, Analytics Manager Emil Hajiyev and Lawyer Farhad Abasov.

“Country’s anti-doping record is heavily linked to coaches and athlete support personnel anti-doping attitudes. It’s is the fact that those who surround the athlete, including coaches, doctors, physios can strongly influence an athlete’s decision-making. They should also be aware of their role in preparing athletes for doping control procedures and helping to shape their attitudes toward clean sport”, said Sh.Huseynli during the final lecture.

She noted that AMADA is interested in development of a new generation of local physical culture and sports specialists to fight against doping and will continue to support national efforts in this area.

AMADA will continue to deliver the “Doping Control” module the next academic year.
