DOPING CONTROL

Doping Control Process

Out-of-Competition

Out-of-Competition Testing, according to the Anti-Doping Rules is any period which is not In-Competition. Out-of-Competition testing takes place anytime, anywhere, with no advance notice.

If you are on a Registered Testing Pool (RTP), you will be required to provide whereabouts information and could be tested at home, at your training location, overseas or other relevant locations.

Teams are mainly tested at the team training sessions, but athletes may also be tested at other locations, including their homes.

In-Competition

In-Competition testing takes place at sporting events. Selection is usually random, from members of a team/squad or athletes entering a competition. Selection can also be based on criteria such as finish position, jersey numbers, discipline or targeted for a particular reason. Athletes who have not taken part in the competition, e.g. reserves or non-starters, are still subject to doping control.

AMADA manages the National Testing Program in accordance with the WADA International Standard of Testing. Under the National Testing Program both urine and blood testing are performed. Testing can be done either in-competition or out-of-competition.

In-Competition Testing is "the period commencing twelve (12) hours before a competition in which the athlete is scheduled to participate through the end of such competition and the sample collection process related to such competition." In-competition takes place after the athlete has finished competing for the day.
