Our History

Azerbaijan as a sporting country shows its highest interest in the fight against doping in sport and promotion of fair play. Azerbaijan became the signatory to the Anti-Doping Convention of Council of Europe in 2004 and International Convention against Doping in Sport in 2007.

As a result of considerable support of the government in sport, conditions for independent, transparent and impartial national anti-doping organisation have been created. Azerbaijan set the single framework towards the monitoring clean sport and established Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency in the last quarter of 2016 as a single authority with the public responsibility for the implementation of the anti-doping policy within the country.

Making a difference for clean athletes.

Today, AMADA is trusted and respected institution that managed to strengthen and ensure devotion of the Azerbaijani sport to the principles of clean sport by adopting best available practices, developing and implementing innovative approaches to anti-doping prevention and earned international recognition by actively contributing to development of anti-doping community globally.

We have been working with thousands of athletes over the past years. And we know that there are hundreds of very individual motivations. But sport is the most important factor of all their lives, that is the reason why it is important to keep a sport they love so dearly clean!

If there is a single clean athlete who lost to cheater - it matters to us!

If there is one young athlete who lost faith in fair play - it matters to us!

We are the organization that has the freedom to make impartial decisions to secure clean sport and protect the rights of clean athletes.

And our commitment keeps us going forward and leads to actions.

By dealing with lots of diverse situations we see the challenges and understand what is essential. We acknowledge the difficult and dynamic environment within which anti-doping community operates. And there will always be challenges! We’ll be challenged by both the things we expect and the things we don’t. But as long as we face them and don’t leave them unaddressed, we keep moving in right direction. New perspectives, new tools and distinct expertise shall be put forward to protect the integrity of sports.

We are moving forward Anti-Doping in our country; we do a lot: big projects and big programs. But the most important is to remember that sport is not a war and what we need today is to increase trust level and put integrity of sport ahead of any other interest!

The most important ones are athletes and the stories about clean sport.

Our Goal

With the increasing scale of global illegal activities in sport and doping frauds, the protection of Azerbaijani sport is crucial and urgent. Past years showed the necessity for keeping the confidence in anti-doping programs and strong governmental regulations at the highest priority.

In this regard, Azerbaijan with its established national anti-doping organisation considers critical to strengthen the anti-doping efforts and foster the fight against doping in sport. With the stable and constant support from the government, Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency is moving forward by increasing its human capital expertise, advancing intelligence and educational capacities, investing in innovative methods and providing strong preventive, deterrent and detective measures against doping violations.

With the environment of having a specific law and independent anti-doping organisation, Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency has relevant authorities and aims to fight for and promote clean sport for the integrity of Azerbaijani sport at both national and international levels.
