The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has designated 11 April 2025 as Play True Day, a global celebration of the values of clean sport. Under this year’s theme, “Play True: It Starts With You,” WADA is calling on athletes, coaches, sports organizations, and supporters worldwide to take personal responsibility and speak up for integrity in sport.
In strong support of this global initiative, the Azerbaijan National Antidoping Agency (AMADA) has announced Play True Week in Azerbaijan, which will take place from 7 to 13 April 2025. The week-long campaign aims to raise national awareness about the importance of anti-doping efforts and to promote a culture of honesty, fairness, and respect in sport.
WADA’s 2025 campaign focuses on digital engagement and encourages the global sporting community to participate by sharing personal messages, photos, and videos across social media using the official hashtag #PlayTrueDay. The campaign is open to everyone—from elite athletes to grassroots participants—highlighting that the journey to clean sport starts with individual choices and actions.
As part of Play True Week 2025, AMADA will deliver a variety of engaging and educational online activities through its digital platforms. These include: Informative posts and short videos about anti-doping messages from Azerbaijani athletes and sports figures interactive stories, polls, and quizzes creative contests with prizes to promote participation and learning the initiative is designed to connect with athletes and sport enthusiasts across Azerbaijan and to reinforce the shared responsibility of protecting sport from doping.
Dr. Tahmina Taghi-zada, CEO of AMADA, emphasized the importance of this global movement: “Sport is not just about competition—it is a powerful reflection of our values: integrity, hard work, and respect for others. Celebrating Play True Day reminds us that clean sport starts with each of us. Doping is not only a rule violation—it breaks the trust between athletes and fans and undermines everything sport stands for. We are proud of Azerbaijan’s athletes who have competed with dignity and perseverance. Through this campaign, we aim to inspire the next generation to make the right choices, value fair play, and contribute to a sporting environment we can all be proud of.”
Since its launch in 2014, Play True Day has grown into a powerful global movement. Now in its 11th year, the campaign continues to unite the international sporting community around a shared goal: to protect the health of athletes, the fairness of competition, and the true spirit of sport.
