The management team of the Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency (AMADA), led by Chief Executive Officer Tahmina Taghi-zada, concluded a successful working visit to Turkey, aimed at strengthening collaboration on anti-doping efforts between the two countries.
During the visit, the delegation met with Sezai Bağbaşı, a member of the Executive Board of the Turkish National Olympic Committee. The discussions focused on anti-doping preparations for the "Paris 2024" Summer Olympic Games, involving both Azerbaijani and Turkish athletes and Athlete Support Personnel, and the anticipated achievements of athletes at the Olympics.
The Azerbaijani delegation also visited the Doping Control Center at Hacettepe University. They received a comprehensive presentation on the laboratory's operations and held a meeting with the Center's Technical Manager and Coordinator, Sinan Önol, to exchange views on topics of mutual interest.
Further, the delegation visited the Laboratory for Research on Animals at Hacettepe University's Department of Physical Education and Sports Physiology. They were provided with detailed information on animal research, particularly the effects of performance-enhancing substances on animal physiology and behavior. Discussions also explored future collaboration opportunities. Professor Haydar Demirel, the laboratory director, expressed strong interest in joint projects with AMADA and highlighted the potential for mutual activities.
At a meeting organized by the Turkish Anti-Doping Commission, global anti-doping efforts were discussed. The meeting, attended by Professor Rüştü Güner, head of the commission, covered organizing joint scientific research and educational projects, the readiness of both organizations for the "Paris 2024" Summer Olympic Games, and planning collaborative educational conferences, webinars, workshops, and knowledge exchanges.
AMADA's delegation included Rufat Efendiyev, Deputy CEO, and Gudrat Safarov, Education Programs Manager.
