The Council of Europe’s Education Advisory Group (T-DO ED) held a meeting at the National Sports Arena in Reykjavik on May 28-29, 2024. The event was co-organized by “Anti-Doping Iceland” and the University of Iceland.
Representing Azerbaijan, a delegation of three members attended, led by the Executive Director of the Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency (AMADA), Tahmina Taghi-zada. The primary goal of the meeting was to bring together key stakeholders to discuss and enhance the International Standard for Education and related strategies.
The opening ceremony began with welcoming remarks from the hosts, followed by a series of innovative presentations from the Chair of the Education Advisory Group, the Council of Europe Secretariat, and representatives of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). A key highlight of the morning session was the discussion on the 2024 Global Education Conference held in Cannes.
A major topic of discussion was the role of artificial intelligence in anti-doping education, presented by Danish expert Tomas Terney. This session focused on exploring how AI technologies can improve the effectiveness of anti-doping education and promote a cleaner sports environment.
Karri Dawson, Executive Director of Values-Based Sport at the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) and Chair of the International Standard for Education (ISE) Project Group, provided a summary of the proposed changes to the ISE. Following this, a consultation session allowed participants, including the Azerbaijani delegation, to share their thoughts and suggestions on these changes.
The second day continued with further consultations on the ISE, where participants received instructions on the latest innovations and results from the working groups. The event wrapped up with a summary of the discussions and a closing ceremony.
