AMADA Promotes Clean Sport at the Mingachevir Stage of the “President’s Cup–2025”

As part of its ongoing anti-doping awareness campaign, the Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency (AMADA) made its next stop in the city of Mingachevir. An anti-doping outreach program was held at the “Kur” Olympic Sports Training Center during the Mingachevir stage of the international rowing regatta “President’s Cup–2025,” dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The initiative generated significant interest among participants and attendees.

The primary objective of the program was to enhance awareness among athletes and the broader sports community about the dangers of doping and to promote a culture of health, fairness, and integrity in sport. AMADA employees provided detailed explanations about the serious health risks associated with doping substances, outlining both short- and long-term consequences. Particular attention was given to educating young athletes about the list of prohibited substances and the mechanisms by which these substances affect the human body.

The awareness campaign placed strong emphasis on the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It was underscored that sport is not solely about physical strength, but must be grounded in ethical and moral values. Athletes who resort to doping not only endanger their health but also compromise their careers, reputations, and the integrity of their teams. The event also addressed the risks posed by narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, drawing attention to their similar harmful effects as doping agents.

To further engage participants, a knowledge-based survey was conducted to test their understanding of anti-doping rules. Those who answered correctly received commemorative gifts in recognition of their awareness.

At the conclusion of the event, participants were provided with informational brochures covering anti-doping rules, athletes’ rights and responsibilities, the risks of doping, and the doping control process. The program received highly positive feedback, with attendees emphasizing the need for such educational initiatives to be conducted on a regular basis.
