On June 5, 2025, the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA) held its annual report conference in Lisbon, Portugal. AMADA staff attended the livestreamed event online at the invitation of EUDA. The conference featured the presentation of the 30th edition of the annual report titled “Trends and Developments.”
Drawing on data from 29 European countries, the report outlines key indicators related to illicit drug use, associated harms, drug supply, specialized treatment services, and harm reduction efforts.
Notable topics discussed during the presentation included the emergence of highly potent synthetic opioids such as nitazenes, the seizure of 419 tonnes of cocaine and 37 tonnes of synthetic cathinones, and the increasing THC concentration in cannabis products. The conference also underscored the importance of strengthening international cooperation, the role of early warning systems, and the application of evidence-based approaches.
AMADA’s participation in this conference serves as further recognition of the agency’s commitment to addressing drug misuse and doping in sport at the international level. This aligns with AMADA’s ongoing collaboration with national authorities under the framework of the “State Program on Combating Illicit Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Their Precursors and Drug Addiction for 2019–2024.”
